Spiral: Spiral is a panfandom RPG, set in a dark and dreary fictional city with no name other than "the City". Characters may find their way into the City, but the way out is a great deal harder to find, and the abandoned City itself is filled with dangers of many kinds.

Rank: Former vicecaptain of the 12th division, currently one of the Vaizard, arguably the 2nd in command.
Zanpakutou: Unknown, as she has not canonically released it.
Appearance: Though her age is unknown -- at least a couple hundred years -- Hiyori's appearance is that of a small blond girl in her early teens. She tends to have a perpetual scowl on her face, and she wears her hair drawn up into short, spiky pigtails held back with red bands, with her bangs tamed with a couple of hairpins. She has a snaggletooth on one side, and a smattering of freckles across her nose. She dresses very simply, in a red sweatsuit paired with a white tanktop. The jacket and pants have white stripes on the sides, and she rolls the pant legs up to give them white cuffs. The jacket has the first kanji of her name embroidered on the breast. She carries her zanpakutou across her back on a length of cord, and always wears a pair of yellow flipflops with red straps.

PersonalityHiyori has a very loud and abrasive personality. She is a person who tends to strongly adhere to the "shoot first, ask later" school of thought, and is not at all above using violence to get her way. She has a very fierce temper, that is easily tripped, especially by Shinji, who she often abuses or uses as a human shield. Despite her nature, Hiyori has a good heart, and has been seen to always consider the good of those under her, such as when she verbally tore Kisuke down when he became her new captain, not only because she didn't like him but because she didn't think he'd be good for their division. Hiyori tends to spend most of her time with a perpetual scowl on her face, somewhat to hide other emotions that she sees as "weak". She does not like for anyone to see her in these moments, and will angrily deny them, or revert into a typical violent act when found out. She has a strong dislike for both humans and shinigami, though the latter can be blamed on the treatment of the group by Soul Society. Hiyori's manners leave something to be desired, a fact which Shinji often exploits by making jokes about how her name is appropriate (Saru = monkey). She is very much an action-oriented individual, and is shown to have little patience for other methods in most cases.

Likes and DislikesSince we haven't seen much of these in canon, I've made some up for her.
Likes: Dango, the colour red, fireworks, kicking Shinji's ass, high places.
Dislikes: Dresses, pink, anything girly, humans.

BackgroundAs her background before the TBTP Gaiden arc is never explored, I have taken the liberty of creating it myself. That being said, everything up until that point in this section is my own ideas, and therefore not truly canon, though it will be used as RP-canon.
Hiyori grew up in Rukongai, born in a high-numbered district, though she managed to eventually find her way into the 27th district. It was there that she met a young Hirako Shinji, and ultimately befriended him after his family was killed by a hollow. Growing up together, the two entered academy, where they both quickly advanced, though his progress was more notable than hers. After graduation, she was placed into the 12th division of the Gotei-13, eventually working her way up to the rank of vice captain. 110 years before current Bleach canon, Hiyori was the vice-captain of the 12th division, serving under Hikifune Kirio. Upon Hikifune's promotion to a place in the 0 Division, also known as the Royal Guard, Urahara Kisuke from the 2nd division was appointed as the new captain of the 12th division. Hiyori, who had looked up to Hikifune very much as a mother-figure, took the news with less then enthusiasm, even going so far as to declare to Kisuke that she would never follow a "sneaky murderer" from the Special Ops. Despite her protests, she remained as vice-captain, and was made Laboratory Head when Kisuke formed the Research and Development Beaureau, serving -- to her chagrin and distaste -- underneath the new 3rd seat of the division, Kurotsuchi Mayuri. 10 years after Kisuke's promotion, something happened to Kuna Mashiro and Muruguma Kensei of the 9th division, who were out with their team investigating strange deaths in which souls would simply vanish, unable to maintain their human forms. When their team found the empty uniforms of the team sent before them, Kensei sent for a representative from 12th division. Upon Kisuke's recommendation, Hiyori was dispatched to go and collect evidence. When Kensei and Mashiro's soul signals vanished soon after her departure, an emergency team consisting of Shinji, Rose, Love, Lisa, and Hachi was assembled and sent after them. When the team arrived, they found a transformed Kensei and Mashiro, and eventually all 8 of them were altered by the effects of Hollowification. Kisuke and Tessai, coming to their rescue, attempted to reverse the transformation, but ultimately could do nothing, and the now Vaizards went into exile along with Kisuke and Tessai. A notable fact is that, of all the Vaizards, she took the longest of all to subdue her Hollow.

Abilities: ZanpakutouHiyori's zanpakutou appears in it's sealed form as a normal katana. It has an oval-shaped tsuba that is decorated with 4 hearts in a compass-pattern, and a red hilt-wrapping. Hiyori normally wears it strapped across her back with a simple cord, very similar to the way Hitsugaya wears his, and she has only been seen to use it on one occasion. However, it's name, release command, and shikai are currently unknown.

Abilities: OtherAlthough Hiyori has never been seen to use it, as a vice captain it is reasonable to assume that she can perform kidou, though it is my opinion that she would prefer the brute strength of a sword. As a Vaizard, although we have never seen her use it, we can reasonably assume that she has access to basic Hollow abilities, such as cero.

Mask: Hiyori's Hollow mask takes a shape reminiscent of a rhinocerous, with a large horn in the center of her forehead, and fushia diamond-like stripes along the brow.

Relationships - Canon
Hirako Shinji - Shinji is arguably Hiyori's best friend, despite the abuse she heaps onto him. While he is nearly always the target of her temper and/or her violent outbursts, he is also the one who knows her best, and who understands her to the deepest level. They have been close for years, and Shinji is generally the only one who can manage to ever break a chink in her armour.
Kurosaki Ichigo - Hiyori treats Ichigo very much the same as Shinji, with violence and demanding. Like Shinji, he also gains the monnikers of Baldy, or Dickface, and she takes just as many opportunities to abuse him.
Urahara Kisuke - Hiyori's former captain is someone she both dislikes and respects. Her respect for him is somewhat grudging, and certainly not anything that she would openly admit to, though she does recognize that their group as a whole owes Kisuke a great deal.
The Vaizard - They are Hiyori's comrades, her "family", in a sense, and despite the fact that she is not as close to the rest of them as she is to Shinji, they are all friends and special people to her.

Relationships - CityNone yet, hopefully she'll manage to make some friends in the City.
